It’s going to be a very fun, very joyful trip, I’m going to travel together with some of my brothers, my mother and her husband. It’s good for her to be able to travel with me and to experience some of the things I do. It’s always good to be able to come back to Cape Verde, with initiatives and projects for the future. We can organise this event, these solidarity games. Trying to help these younger players to follow a path and try to make their dreams come true. But yeah, trying to convey a little bit of the reality, we have to work hard, we have to strive, we have to believe, believe that everything is possible. We are here for that. Cape Verde Tour – Luis Nani I would like to thank everyone for their presence and to have this opportunity to be here in this fantastic island, my parents’ land, I have always wanted to be able to do something good, so that in the future this country can grow and develop. What brought me here to Cape Verde was the idea of organising two solidarity games. We wanted to raise funds so that we could donate to some of the most deserving entities. Don’t mess up the skills, man. I like to do this kind of action, event, create unique opportunities for children so that they can have a different vision of sports and that they can continue to believe that there will always be a chance in life. It was very good, very good to be with the children here at Sporting da Praia, at the academy, where the kids train and spend most of their time enjoying football. Where has he played? Sporting, Manchester United… That moment that I could be there and play with them made me go back in time, to when I was younger. I felt very good, I’m happy to be here now, I’m going to continue to enjoy, more than anything you have to enjoy what you do, and I’m enjoying it very much. Well done! I have always dreamed of meeting Nani here in Cape Verde. At the moment I feel very emotional because I am a Sporting CP fan, my dream is to play football, play for our national team and today I am here fulfilling one of my dreams, there are no words to describe the feeling of meeting Nani in person. We started here in Praia with a solidarity game with the participation of some children and also the collaboration of Sporting da Praia. And now I have a jersey from my favorite club and the shirt with the name of one of the best players in Portugal. Those boots are already know how to play, just put them on and they will do the rest. I hope someday to give back, to be able to play at a high level and to be able to play in the team of my heart that is Sporting Clube Portugal. Let’s go, football is joy! To be able to pass on all that experience that I’ve acquired over the years, to be able to give them an extra motivation, a focus on what they might be later on, that’s the idea and I don’t want to stop here. It was a great emotion, it was a good feeling. I’m very happy for everything that happened today. It was a spectacular event. It was what we expected. You could feel that there is a passion for football and sport here in this country. it was a fantastic afternoon, with lots of goals, lots of fun and I’m very happy to be here. I was able to visit the Minister of Sports and we had some interesting conversations. It was fun. How are you? Yes, sir… it’s nice to meet you! Thank you, my pleasure! I’ve already enjoyed watching you on TV but now in person it’s something else. He’s a son of these islands, regardless where he was born. So we are all very happy to have him here. Individuals like Nani, who are successful men, will make Cape Verde a bigger country. We will also say when we introduce ourselves to the world: “Look at that man there, that extraordinary footballer, who has an extraordinary talent? His soul is like ours.” Creole! For us, that’s already a great sign of Cape Verde’s affirmation in the world. I have some memoirs to tell the story. We visited another football school, where I saw a lot of kids. I was only 19 when we started… We created this project in 2012 precisely to help education in this area. Using sports to be able to pass on values and guidance to our children, who will be better men, so we created this cycle that can improve their lives and our country in general. We wanted to offer some t-shirts, it was a funny moment, because the t-shirts were too big and they laughed when they put them on. It was great to be able to see all of them when they got the T-shirts, many of them were very emotional, but that’s life, we have to provide more of these moments and that’s what we want. Thank you so much, Nani! It was a very busy day, with many emotions, among some schools who have special needs. I wanted to give you this jersey, from the club where I currently play, Orlando City, in Florida. Some of the schools did not have good conditions for the children can study. I am very happy to visit these places and to be able to initiate a small change. Let us try to create conditions in these schools so that these children can continue to smile as I saw them do this morning. It’s not a normal day for them, what we want is for them to be like that every day and that is what we are going to work for. It’s been a fantastic tour, now we’ll go to São Vicente and keep going there. It was a special afternoon for Mindelo’s team. The game was fun, spectacular, good vibes, I could feel the joy of the players, both from Mindelo and from my team. There were beautiful moments of football. I was able to score a spectacular goal. This game has the objective of fundraising, but also to be able to hang out together for a while and feel the culture, feel the good energy on the field. It’s a moment I’ll never forget and I’ll always have with me in my heart all those people who support me, who like me and look at me as an example. Everything went according to plan, these are moments that I believe will be engraved in me for life. I was able to witness situations that moved me a lot and I think it is necessary to give a hand to all these children who are in great need. Thank you very much to all the Cape Verdeans. See you soon!
