Major routes are served by the X2000, a high speed train which travels at speeds of up to 200km/h (125mph) -slashing travel times in Sweden. The fastest train between Stockholm and Gothenburg now takes only 2 hours and 54 minutes, while the Stockholm to Malmö service is covered in under four hours. Seat reservations are required on all X2000 and night trains.

Eurail and InterRail passes are valid in Sweden. Other passes include the ScanRail and Sweden Rail pass.
